Another of Dublin’s most famous landmarks, the RDS, is home to many large conferences, events and sporting fixtures throughout the year including its most famous outing of the year – the Fáilte Ireland Dublin Horse Show.
Established in 1879, the main arena at the RDS is a beautiful venue and formally only used for its biggest venue of the year ‘The Dublin Horse Show’ and other equestrian events. The Dublin Horse Show has taken place at the RDS every year since 1864. Over the years the Horse Show has developed into a high profile national and international show jumping competition which attracts more and more every year.
At present, the main arena can hold up to 35,000 for concerts and up to 18,000 for rugby matches. Other premises within the RDS are the Simmonscourt and Main Hall.
With complete flexibility in stage and seating layout and excellent acoustics, the RDS as played host to some of the biggest names in music including Kanye West, Justin Bieber, George Michael, The Eagles, Bruce Springsteen and Guns N Roses.
The RDS is Ireland’s largest international conference and exhibition venue with over 22,000 sq metres of floor space set over a 42-acre site. From Dublin city centre the RDS can be accessed easily by DART and Dublin Bus.
