2-Day Dublin Itinerary

Dublin is a small, but vibrant city and most attractions are within short walking distance of our hotel, making us the ideal place when exploring the Irish capital.

We have put together a 2-day Dublin city itinerary to make sure you make the most of your city break or weekend trip to Dublin.

Day 1: Trinity College – The Book of Kells – Natural History Museum – Grafton Street

On your first day, we suggest you get your bearings and learn a bit about Irish history. The first stop is at Trinity College Dublin where you can stroll through the campus grounds founded in 1952 and the oldest university in Ireland. Take in a visit to The Book of Kells, Ireland’s oldest manuscript located within the grounds of Trinity College. Dublin has four national museums and they are all free to visit so pop along to the Natural History Museum where you will find over 10,000 different preserved species of animals from around the world. End your day with a walk along Grafton Street, Dublin’s famous shopping street. This street is home to many famous Irish stores and is popular with street musicians and buskers.

Day 2: Kilmainham Gaol – The Guinness Storehouse – Croke Park – Temple Bar

A day dedicated to adventure and seeing all the main sights in the city. Enjoy the hop-on hop-off bus tour of Dublin, it has over 40 stops and two different routes so you can get to almost anywhere in the city. The bus stops at the famous Kilmainham Gaol and is well worth a visit. The Gaol (jail in Irish) was home to many prisoners who were significant in history as being a part of the battle with Britain for Independence. For people that are interested in Irish sport, a visit to Croke Park, our national hurling and Gaelic football home, is a must. The stadium is about 10 minutes’ walk from the last stop on the bus tour and offers a stadium tour where you can visit the dressing rooms, walk on the pitch and visit the press boxes.

Next on the bus tour is a visit to Dublin’s top visitor attraction – The Guinness Storehouse, this is without a doubt a must-see for anyone visiting Dublin. The tour takes you through the history of the Guinness brand, the production process from start to finish and ends with a pint of the good stuff in the Gravity Bar with views across Dublin city. Finish off your second day in Dublin with a visit to Temple Bar, located on the south bank of the River Liffey and about 10 minutes’ walk from Maldron Hotel Pearse Street. Temple Bar is famous for traditional Irish music and the best pints in Dublin so take a stroll along the cobbled streets and pop into a pub for a pint.
